Inspiration: Top 2014 Moments
It was a hell of a year. Here are some of my favorite moments.
1. Fashion Forward Runway Show
Machine officially launched at the Fashion Forward runway show in April. After 6+ crazy months of classes, pattermaking and prototyping sessions, my first collection was ready to make its public debut. The show kicked off a whirlwind year of fashion!
2. 1st LA Sourcing Trip
Along with fellow Portland designer, Claire Doody of Copper Union, we made our way down to LA for my first sourcing trip. The experience of LA inspired me in so many unexpected ways. From the street art, to the ocean, to the mountains of fabric, the city definitely left a lasting impression and I can’t wait to get back.
3. Alley 33
Machine was featured alongside a number of awesome Portland designers in an outdoor runway show in July. I created a new collection to give everyone a taste of what Machine is all about. It was a great opportunity to experiment with new fabrics and designing custom textiles.
4. New Studio/Open House
Finding the new studio for Machine was a huge moment in 2014. The space, the building, and the possibilities inspire me every day and it is a perfect shop to continue growing the brand. We had a huge open house celebration in September with a great turnout and made new friends.
5. Launched The Alpha Top
It took most of the year, but we officially launched our first garment, the Alpha Top. It was made right here in Portland with the help of our friends at Creative 35. I learned a lot and can’t wait to show you what we’ve got cooking for the next pieces set for release in 2015.
Thank you for making this an unforgettable year! Here’s to standing out and stepping up in 2015.
